2024-08-28

While Stellantis' North American division has phased out most of its V8 engines, a few models still offer this type of powertrain. One of them is the Dodge Durango, which, against all odds, is back on the market as a 2025 model.

It's important to note that the current generation has been on the market since 2011. However, the Durango is more popular than ever, which explains its presence in the lineup for 2025.

Silver Bullet

The 2025 Dodge Durango comes with a special edition called the Silver Bullet. This variant features several black-painted elements, but the most noticeable details are the red brake calipers and the Hellcat logo. This special edition is derived from the Hellcat version.

This means it is powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine that delivers 710 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque. This allows it to accelerate from 0-60 mph in under 3.6 seconds and reach a top speed of over 180 mph. The American automaker’s SUV can also complete a quarter-mile in under 11.5 seconds, which is impressively fast for a vehicle of this size.

If you're interested in this special edition, be prepared to pay a hefty sum, as its price is set at $155,130, which is clearly out of reach for most budgets.

R/T 20th Anniversary

As I mentioned earlier, the third-generation Dodge Durango arrived on the market in 2011. However, the R/T version debuted in 2004 with the second generation. This is why the American manufacturer is offering a special R/T 20th Anniversary edition this year. As you might have guessed, this edition comes with the legendary 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine, producing 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque.

The 20th Anniversary edition stands out from the others with several unique features, such as beautiful 20-inch 10-spoke wheels. Not to mention the 345 badges, referring to the engine's displacement in cubic inches.

This special edition is considerably more affordable than the previous one, with a starting price of $83,580, although it’s still quite expensive.
