2025 Jeep Wrangler: The King of the Mountain

2024-11-21

After a long week of work, there's nothing quite like removing the roof and doors of your vehicle to head out on an adventure. Oh, your Honda CR-V or Toyota RAV4 doesn't do that? That's probably what most Jeep owners are thinking. Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating a bit, but the fact remains that the American manufacturer's SUV is one of the few vehicles where you can feel truly free behind the wheel, thanks to its unique design and off-road capabilities.

As is the case every year, the Jeep Wrangler comes with its share of updates for 2025. The American manufacturer's SUV will now feature standard power-locking doors and power windows. Believe it or not, crank windows were still an option last year. While I appreciate this evolution, I must admit it tugs at my nostalgic heartstrings, as it's the kind of feature automotive enthusiasts of a certain age tend to cherish. Beyond that, the American SUV gains new color options and a few additional interior features like active ventilation.

Range and Pricing

When it comes to variety, the 2025 Jeep Wrangler lineup offers plenty, with over 16 different configurations available. Prices range from $39,995 to $78,785 for the standard model. For the 4xe variant, prices range from $63,267 to $87,585. Of course, some versions are eligible for various government subsidy programs, significantly reducing their cost. The price for the 392 version had not been disclosed at the time of writing.

Category and Competition

While perfectly capable of getting you to work, picking up the kids from school, or running errands, off-road driving is the main reason buyers are drawn to the Jeep Wrangler. It belongs to a niche category with only a handful of models. On paper, it might look like a simple mid-size SUV, but in reality, it's much more. As you might have guessed, the Jeep Wrangler doesn't face much natural competition. In fact, the Ford Bronco is its true rival at present. However, the rising popularity of highly capable off-road models will likely bring similar vehicles to the market in the coming years.

Rivals: Ford Bronco, Ineos Grenadier, JLR Defender, Toyota 4Runner, Toyota Land Cruiser

Design and Technology

The Jeep Wrangler is one of those rare vehicles whose design is beyond criticism. It's a classic and unique model, instantly recognizable on the road. As I've mentioned, it's a vehicle chosen with emotion, which explains why it offers one of the most vibrant color palettes in the industry. It's a head-turner wherever it goes.

The interior design of the American SUV is visually appealing, especially with the addition of the new multimedia system screen. However, what bothers me slightly is the cabin space and the quality of certain finishes. This becomes even more apparent as you move up the range since the finishing quality doesn't improve much, which is hard to swallow given the price difference between the base and higher-end versions.

Performance

The 2025 Jeep Wrangler offers four mechanical options:

  1. 3.6L V6 engine with 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque.
  2. 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine producing 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.
  3. 4xe hybrid version, which combines the 2.0L 4-cylinder engine with electric power for a total output of 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque.
  4. Legendary 6.4L V8 engine, delivering 470 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque.

Weak Points

  • Prices climb steeply between versions.
  • Fuel consumption isn't exemplary.

Strengths

  • Unmatched off-road capabilities.
  • Numerous configurations available.
  • One of the few vehicles still offering a manual transmission.

Signature Element

The Jeep Wrangler is a true legend. It's one of the rare models purchased not for getting from point A to point B but for its unique capabilities.

Final Thoughts

The Jeep Wrangler is a vehicle bought with the heart, not the head. That's why it has built an entire community around it. Buying a Jeep Wrangler is more than just acquiring a new vehicle—it's joining a large family, making the experience even more rewarding.
